The Coast Region
To the west of the Andean mountains has 7 provinces that covers about 28% of Ecuador’s area but houses about 53% of the population.
The Sierra Region
It contains the Andean mountains that stretch from the north to the south dividing Ecuador in the middle has 10 provinces that covers 23% of Ecuador’s area and houses about 42% of the population.
The Orient Region
To the east of the Andean mountains has 6 provinces that covers 46% of Ecuador’s area, though it only houses about 5% of the country’s population.
Galápagos Island
that is the last part of Ecuador is a province of its own and stands for about 3% of Ecuador’s area, about only has 0.2% of its population.
